Charging your car with an EV charger powered by ChargeLab is easy. All you need is your smartphone and a credit card—you don’t even need to download a dedicated app if you don’t want to.
Please follow the steps in this Quick Start Guide to get started.
1. Identify the charger
Stand in front of the charger, open your phone’s camera, and scan the QR code. If scanning doesn’t work, enter charge.id/[charger ID] manually in your browser.
For example, charger AA-00 can be found at charge.id/aa-00.
2. Sign in or create an account
Once on the charger page, tap SIGN IN or SIGN UP. If you see START, you're already signed in.
To sign up, enter your name, email, phone number, and credit card details. Payment info is securely stored with PCI DSS Level 1 certification.
To sign in, use your registered email or phone number and enter the one-time code sent to you.
3. Start charging
After signing in, tap START on the charger page.
If the charger has multiple ports, select one before proceeding.
Check the pricing details—some chargers bill for the full time plugged in, while others charge based on energy consumption.
Other ways to charge
Download the ChargeLab app for iOS or Android to access more features. Sign in with the same email or phone number you used for the web app.
Get the app at www.chargelab.co/app.
Using an RFID card
ChargeLab offers free RFID cards with a credit-card-sized version and a key fob. Order at www.chargelab.co/rfid.
Once linked to your account, tap the RFID card on the charger to start a session. Your credit card will be billed as usual.
Note: Some chargers in multi-family buildings do not support RFID. If no RFID tap symbol is visible, use the app instead.
Billing and Payments
Adding a new credit card triggers a small pre-authorization fee, refunded within days. If it fails, the card won’t be added, and you'll be notified.
Starting a charge session places a temporary hold on your card, appearing as “pending” or “processing.”
If the session total is less than the hold, the difference is refunded. If it’s more, the hold is canceled, and you're charged separately.
View payment history in the ChargeLab app under Charge and Payments. Email receipts are sent unless disabled.
