Prerequisites
Before adding chargers, ensure that you have at least one location set up in your dashboard.
Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Chargers
-
- Access the Chargers Page:
Navigate to the Chargers page within your dashboard.
Click on the Add Chargers button located near the top right corner. - Enter Initial Details:
A pop-up will appear prompting you to enter initial details about the chargers. Refer to the Charger Setup Details guide for specific instructions.
Once the initial information is entered, click Next to proceed. - Specify Charger Details:
Number of Chargers: Indicate how many chargers of the specific model you are installing. If you have multiple models, you'll need to repeat the setup for each model separately.
Serial Number: Enter the serial number found typically on the side or back of the charger.
OCPP ID: Provide the OCPP ID, which is used for network communication.
Display ID: This is a name or a series of letters and numbers found on the charger, often on a sticker or wrap, that helps identify the charger in the web app.
Unit Number: For chargers associated with specific units in multi-residential buildings, specify the unit number.
Parking Space Number: If the charger corresponds to a particular parking space, indicate the space number.
SIM Card Number: Enter the SIM card number if available. This helps in troubleshooting network issues. - Finalize Addition:
Click Continue to Next Charger if adding multiple chargers, or click Save if you are adding just one.
- Access the Chargers Page:
Post-Addition Steps
Charger Status: Newly added chargers will initially show a “Coming Soon” status in your dashboard. This status will change to “Deployed” once the system detects a connection from chargers whose serial numbers and OCPP IDs match the added entries.
Adding chargers through the dashboard prepares the back-end software for connection but does not configure the hardware. Each OCPP-compliant EV charger requires specific hardware configuration steps that must be completed as part of its deployment.
For more detailed instructions on setting up and configuring the hardware aspects of your EV chargers, please consult the specific charger's installation manual or contact technical support.
