To begin, navigate to the Charger page within the dashboard. This is where you will find an overview of all available chargers.
Once you are on the Charger page, identify and select the specific charger you wish to interact with. This will provide you with detailed information about that particular charger.
In the charger information box, locate the horizontal ellipsis icon, which is typically found at the top of the box. Click on this icon to reveal additional options.
Options for Starting a Charge
-
QR Code Usage
When scanned with a phone, this QR code links to this charger’s web page. This gives drivers a quick and easy way to start charging without needing an additional app.
Downloading this QR code generates a .PNG format image and saves it to your computer. Use this QR code along with relevant charger information (such as the Display ID above) when creating signage for drivers.
When you change the display name of the charger, it will reset the QR code generated. You will need to download a new QR code as shown above. Please consider this if you do not wish to replace the QR sticker on the device.
-
View Charger as a Driver
From the dropdown menu that appears, select the option labeled "View charger as a driver." This action will redirect you to a new page at the URL charge.id/DAA-00.
Upon selecting this option, a new tab will open in your web browser. This new tab will display the driver's view of the charger within the web application. If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to do so. After logging in, you will have the capability to initiate a charging session by pressing the "Start Session" button.
-
Product Dashboard
It is important to note that this method is specifically designed for site hosts who have access to the product dashboard. If you are a site host, you will have the necessary permissions to carry out the following action
After selecting the desired charger, scroll down below the picture of the charger. The Start button immediately starts a charging session on the EV charger. Using the Start button in the site host dashboard overrides any access control or pricing settings and provides a free charging session to any vehicle that is plugged in. The Stop button overrides any ongoing session started by EV drivers or dashboard users to stop charging. It is only clickable when there is an ongoing charging session.
-
Configure Auto Start
After selecting the desired charger, scroll down below the picture of the charger. Here, you will find a button labeled "Start the Charge." Click on this button to initiate the charging process. This action will commence the flow of electricity to the connected vehicle, allowing it to begin charging.
To set auto-start, find the desired charger from the Charger Management section, click into it to get the Charger details, and then click the horizontal ellipsis icon at the top of the charger info box. Then, select Edit charger.
You can enable auto-start from the Charger Detail page using the switch in the Settings section. Auto-start removes the need to authenticate before using an EV charger. When auto-start is enabled, charging will start as soon as a vehicle plugs in. If a charger is monetized and auto-start is enabled, all transactions will either be billed to an individual driver or a company account. The email address associated with the company on the Company page will be the account that is billed.
Auto-start is ideal for dedicated chargers in multi-family buildings. Residents with their own private charger can plug in without authentication just like they would with a single-family home charger, but all fees will still be billed to their account.
