This feature allows site hosts to effectively handle situations where chargers are undergoing maintenance or are temporarily unavailable for use.
Chargers can encounter issues that render them temporarily unusable, such as hardware failures or damage to components like cables or connectors. However, it is essential for site hosts with public chargers to maintain visibility and provide accurate information to drivers, even when the charger itself is still online. Additionally, technicians need to efficiently troubleshoot and test chargers as part of the maintenance operations.
Enabling Maintenance Mode
The Charger Management section of your dashboard contains all the pages used to manage your EV chargers. This section is located immediately below the Overview tab in your dashboard’s sidebar.
To view the Chargers page:
- For large screens, click "Chargers" in the sidebar.
- For compact screens, click the triple bar menu on the top left and select Chargers from the menu.
To set maintenance mode, find the desired charger from the Charger Management section, click into it to get the Charger details, and then click the horizontal ellipsis icon at the top of the charger info box. Then, select Edit charger.
There will be a toggle called Maintenance mode, which can be turned on and off.
Site hosts can quickly find chargers under maintenance via Charger page filtering while retaining full access to the charger status and settings via the dashboard. This allows site hosts to continue monitoring the charger's health, adjust settings and ensure seamless maintenance operations.
Feature Benefits
Drivers: When a charger is in maintenance mode, the driver apps will display the charger as 'Unavailable' and disable charging functions. This ensures transparent communication to drivers, indicating that the charger is temporarily out of service due to maintenance while maintaining map visibility, if enabled.
Technicians: Technician view is a dedicated bypass for technicians to gain access to the charger's true status and full charging functionality so they can efficiently perform testing and troubleshooting tasks for chargers under maintenance.
