Software prerequisites
The Charging Station Management System (CSMS) dashboard supports the specifications of California’s CTEP regulatory requirements and can be integrated with any EVSE running OCPP firmware that meets CTEP requirements as specified by Open Charge Alliance (OCA).
CTEP applies to all paid chargers in California, defining standards for (among other areas):
- Accuracy of dispensed energy measurement
- Display on the charger’s screen for of pricing information and session cost before, during and after charging sessions
- Loss of connectivity during charging sessions
- Transparent and detailed receipts
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) provides CTEP certification following successful testing of hardware and software together.
Hardware and firmware prerequisites
This CSMS has been tested and certified for CTEP and includes testing whether the hardware and firmware supports CTEP design and commands as defined in the OCA specifications, including testing the pricing structures that are supported by CTEP.
Configuration
During deployments, CTEP-ready chargers must be configured to enable CTEP. Refer to the charger’s configuration instructions for details.
CTEP-ready chargers
If you are deploying chargers in California, refer to the list of CTEP-ready models. For models not yet approved, inquire about the readiness and testing process with the charger manufacturer and your ChargeLab Customer Success Manager.
